42nd Street Broadway Legend Information:
A Broadway Legend! If you're nostalgic for the good old days, come on along and listen to the lullaby of 42nd Street. This Tony Award-winning revival will have you tap-tap-tapping your toes in no time at all. Don't miss one of the longest running shows in Broadway history! Re-creating the classic 1933 backstage movie musical of the same name, 42nd Street is the simple minded saga of stage-struck chorus girl Peggy Sawyer from Allentown, Pennsylvania, who gets her big chance when Dorothy Brock, the star of Pretty Lady, breaks her ankle during the show's tryout, and Peggy goes on to triumph on "naughty, bawdy, gaudy, sporty, 42nd Street." The show has music by Harry Warren, lyrics by Al Dubin, book by Michael Stewart and Mark Bramble. The songs: "Young and Healthy," "Shadow Waltz," "Go Into Your Dance," "You're Getting to Be a Habit With Me," "Dames," "We're in the Money," "Lullaby of Broadway," "About a Quarter to Nine," "Shuffle Off to Buffalo," "Forty-Second Street". 42nd Street opened on Broadway at the Winter Garden Theatre on August 25, 1980 and ran for 3,486 performances. Suitable for all ages.
